As adults, it can seem like the ailments we experience just happened overnight, when really - it probably started back when we were kids.⁣ ⁣ What we feed children even during their first few years of life can affect whether or not they develop certain kinds of diseases that won't be symptomatic until DECADES later.⁣ ⁣ We all grew up being told to eat our veggies - but it wasn't just an annoying suggestion from our parents. It can be the difference between a comfortable life and a painful one later on.⁣ ⁣ If we want to be serious about preventing adulthood illnesses, we can't shy away from educating ourselves about nutrition and teaching it to the youth. Whole food, plant-based nutrition needs to be apart of our conversations with our kids 💚⁣ ⁣ Did you learn a lot about nutrition growing up?
1 month preggo vs. 5 months! In the past 2 weeks, 1 month preggo vs. 5 months! In the past 2 weeks, my lil’ bumble bee has hit a growth spurt. At my 20-week weigh in, I was 128 lbs. Now 2 weeks later, I’m 131 lbs and the baby is about the length of a banana 🍌⁣ ⁣ I always thought it would be incredibly weird to see my body change once I got pregnant. I shocked myself with how much I’m actually enjoying this process. Pre-pregnancy, I had plans to write long captions of how miserable this experience would be. But you know what they say. Tell God your plans and he’ll laugh in your face.⁣ ⁣ It’s been surprisingly pleasant and I can honestly say I’m happy this is one plan that didn’t go as expected 😌
Eco Swap Idea 05 💡 Swap out plastic antiperspir Eco Swap Idea 05 💡 Swap out plastic antiperspirant for sustainable natural deodorant!⁣ ⁣ More than likely if you walk down the personal care aisle of any store, the deodorants will be in plastic packaging. I find my natural, vegan, sustainable deodorants online.⁣ ⁣ The two I have in the photo are options I've tried and liked. The one from @ethiqueworld comes in paper packaging and it's a bar that you just rub on your armpits. The other one from @myshay.deodorant comes in an aluminum tin and you scoop a small amount out and rub it on.⁣ ⁣ One of the best natural deodorants I ever tried had tea tree oil in it. Essential oils have antibacterial properties that can help with odor and tea tree oil works really well. Unfortunately, the tea tree deodorant I tried was by @jasonnaturalcare, who uses plastic packaging 😩⁣ ⁣ Some people detox their armpits first before making the switch to natural deodorant by making an armpit mask out of bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar.⁣ ⁣ Have you ever done an armpit detox?

Grill the #OZOFoods patties⁣ 2. Toast your buns⁣ 3. Add ketchup to one bun⁣ 4. Place a patty on top⁣ 5. Smear on fresh guacamole⁣ 6. Add fresh mango salsa⁣ 7. Add a couple of onion slices⁣ 8. Garnish with arugula⁣ 9. Crush some BBQ chips on top⁣ 10. Place your other bun on top and flatten⁣ ⁣ This loaded burger is 100% vegan and certified tasty.⁣ ⁣ FYI the OZO patty has:⁣ ⁣ 🌱 No artificial ingredients and uses a blend of rice and #peaprotein fermented by shiitake mushrooms.⁣ ⁣ 🌱 22g of protein per serving y'all!⁣ ⁣ 🌱 NO cholesterol. Tackling the @nutritionstudies program through @ecornell_online was one of the best steps I could have taken both personally and professionally.⁣ ⁣ 🤰🏽 As an expecting mother, I absorbed invaluable science-backed info about plant-based health from pregnancy to raising children. And as the creator of a green living brand, I learned a treasure trove of gems to pass on to YOU!⁣ ⁣ 🎓 S/O to @foodforhealthfoundation for granting me a scholarship in support of my education goals! In my application, I spoke about the connection between food and health. From fibroids to heart problems to cancer, my own friends and family have experienced so much trauma, and I couldn't help but wonder if diet was a significant factor.⁣ ⁣ 🍐 The courses provided research from experts explaining how a whole foods plant-based diet is optimal for health; including the prevention and REVERSAL of illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes (two ailments that disproportionately affect the Black American community). The program also helped further my understanding of the links between animal agriculture and environmental destruction, as well as the role politics and giant corporations play in strategically molding our food habits.⁣ ⁣ 🐣 I began my vegan lifestyle 4 years ago to take a stance against animal exploitation, and since then I have adopted a wide range of other reasons to stand by that choice - from health to environmental to social justice issues.⁣ ⁣ 🌱 What are some topics you’d like me to cover about vegan and plant-based living?
How do I stay active in my 2nd trimester of pregna How do I stay active in my 2nd trimester of pregnancy? I have several go-to activities.⁣ ⁣ 🚶🏽‍♀️ 1st trimester I toned down my exercise routine. I was so nervous to overdo it given how critical those first 3 months are for development! While my doc said there was nothing to worry about, my nerves got the best of me and I just did 1-hour daily leisurely walks.⁣ ⁣ 🧘🏽‍♀️ Now that I'm in 2nd tri, I feel a lot more confident! I ride my electric bike, do yoga, and speed walk. And we should be finished setting up our basement gym later today, so I'll add in some additional moderate workouts for variety.⁣ ⁣ 🚴🏽‍♀️ I particularly enjoy my electric bike because it allows me the versatility to ride in a low impact way. My heart rate is faster now that I'm preggo so I get out of breath a lot quicker. If I don't want to pedal, I switch to electric mode and enjoy a gentle ride.⁣ ⁣ 💦 The husbae and I go on electric bike dates sometimes for fun. He added a basket to mine so I can carry water with me to stay hydrated.⁣ ⁣ What have you been doing lately to stay active?

Do you know anyone like that? If you do, I was probably 10x more anti-kids than that person you know.⁣ ⁣ Crazy enough I married a guy who was the complete opposite. His biggest dream was to be a dad! Lo and behold, we did what most people would strongly advise against - we married each other anyway hoping the other person would change their mind. Spoiler. It was me who did.⁣ ⁣ As a little girl, I never once dreamt of:⁣ 1. Having a fairytale wedding⁣ 2. Marrying the perfect spouse⁣ 3. Buying a fancy car⁣ 4. Moving into a big house in the burbs; or⁣ 5. Having kids 🙅🏽‍♀️⁣ ⁣ These were all things HE dreamt of, that at the time, I rolled my eyes at.⁣ ⁣ I just dreamt of adventures and grand escapes.⁣ ⁣ But bae wasn't looking to escape life. He wanted a life he didn't need to escape. So with each of these big dreams HE had, he crazily had faith that I'd come around too. To my surprise, every time I came around to one of his dreams, I fell wildly in love with each one.⁣ ⁣ The fairytale wedding I scoffed at was the most tearfully magical day of my life, my spouse was the best husband I could never dream of, our "fancy" electric car kickstarted my sustainable lifestyle brand, and our solar-powered smart house in the burbs became the dream home I didn't know I wanted.⁣ ⁣ After all was said and done - that simple act of having an open mind to someone else's dreams, allowed us to essentially build a life I didn't need to make grand escapes from. An unexpectedly adventurous life that I could finally envision ourselves bringing a kid into.⁣ ⁣ Looking back on my journey that led me to wanting to be a mom; I don't think I would have ever gotten here had I not been open to trying new things. Had I only made room for my own ideas of what my life could look like, I would have missed out on all these magical milestones that have brought me immeasurable joy.⁣ ⁣ I'm beyond ready and excited to enter into motherhood and I'm grateful I have a partner I can trust to make this next milestone our most joyous one yet.⁣ ⁣ 🤰🏽 Any guesses on the
