This mama-to-be ain’t taking any chances with her cleaning products! Household products come wrapped in plastic, toxins, and extra ingredients we don’t even need. So I switched to @ec30_enlightened_clean. [#ad]

What I like about #EC30 is they know sustainability is more than just being anti-plastic.

For example, did you know liquid cleaning products consist mostly of just water? I feel so deceived y’all. It's not necessary, because we have water at home! So EC30 removed water from its products.

NO WATER MEANS:
• No plastic bottles
• Lighter, more compact products to transport
• Fewer Ingredients
• No preservatives that are required to keep liquid products fresh
• No stabilizers, emulsifiers and fillers that are needed to keep liquid products as a stable liquid

FYI, less ingredients = less C02 emissions, because creating/transporting raw ingredients for liquid cleaners is the most significant contributor to C02 emissions! What the what?!

What started as our local pumpkin compost initiative evolved into a platform to teach regenerative sustainability - but what does that even mean?

Simply put: Sustainability calls for us to do less harm to the planet in an attempt to slow down the damage we're causing. Regenerative sustainability goes a step further - and seeks to replenish what was damaged instead of just slowing it down (One Example: Composting!).

🌱 Can you think of some more examples of regenerative sustainability?

I am the daughter of a Jamaican/Black American dad

I am the daughter of a Jamaican/Black American dad and immigrant Indian mom. @kamalaharris is the representation my sister and I never had growing up.

Powerful Black representation was a stuggle on its own, but Blindian or Jamindian (Black & Indian or Jamaican & Indian) representation, particularly in positions of leadership? Non-existent for us.

The world has a complex relationship with multiracial identity, often deciding for mixed people how they should identify instead of letting them have that choice. So it wasn't often that you saw mixed people in power embracing their multiple identities.

Is she Black? Is she Brown? Is she Indian? Is she Jamaican? Is she South Asian? Is she American? She's all of that. And it is her right to acknowledge it all.

VP-Elect Harris and her sister @mayaharris_ were raised to be proud Black women who also embraced their Indian heritage. Similarly, my sister @Jasminepennamma and I were raised Black because my parents knew that's how the world would identify us, and therefor treat us.

Being mixed, I've learned over the years that claiming blackness and recognizing my multiracial identity do not need to be mutually exclusive and no one has the right to police how I move or identify in the world. I am Black. I am Brown. I am Indian. I am Jamaican. I am South Asian. I am American. I am all of that. And I am proud of it. 🖤🤎🇯🇲🇮🇳🇺🇸

In case you missed my last post, my friends @blackinthegarden, @brother.earthh and I started a new organization called Compost Society, dedicated to "Getting Rid Of Waste and Encouraging Regenerative Sustainability" (G.R.O.W.E.R.S). Our first project is collecting your used pumpkins to turn them into compost!⁣

♻️ Every year millions of pumpkins get tossed in the trash after Halloween and Thanksgiving. So my friends @blackinthegarden, @brother.earthh, and I put together an initiative to rescue your pumpkins and turn them into compost.⁣

🌎 This year we're starting locally in Atlanta! The @wyldecenter heard our idea and didn't think we were crazy. Instead, they amazingly agreed to partner with us on our first project as our drop-off location!⁣
⁣
🎃 If you live in or know anyone in Atlanta, come through and donate your pumpkins to our collection bins during the month of November! More details on times/dates coming soon, so stay tuned!⁣
