Over the years I’ve gotten questions from people who are curious about my career in video production, and even more recently, about what inspired me to start Travel Lushes. In May, I received a message from Cory, one of the creators of Filmback, asking me if I would be interested in doing a podcast interview with him to discuss both. Of course, I said yes!
Filmback is a podcast that was created for both striving and thriving filmmakers, where established film creatives share exactly how they made it in the industry. Cory and his business partner Claire have interviewed a slew of interesting characters who all have different roles in the industry, including directors, producers, sound designers, editors—you name it! I love the concept, because it reminds me of what I’m doing with Travel Lushes. Both our brands aim to create communities where people can come together and share their experiences with other like-minded individuals. In other words, we aspire to inspire others to follow their passion and give them the tips to do it.
Last month, I just happened to be in the same city where Cory and Claire were located, so I headed to Filmback’s studio to do their very first in-person interview. Up until then, all their interviews had been conducted via phone. I was so glad I got a chance to meet these two! I was slightly apprehensive about not knowing what the hell they were about to ask me, but it ended up feeling like having a conversation with two old friends rather than being grilled about my career.
For the first half of the podcast, I give tips to anyone pursuing a career in online video, since that’s the direction I went in. The second half of the podcast dives into my decision to launch Travel Lushes. You’ll hear about how I had no idea what I was doing in the beginning and get tips on starting your own business based on what I went through.
I had a blast doing this interview, so special thanks to Cory and Claire for inviting me to their studio to do this. If you are interested in pursuing a career in film & video, be sure to follow them on social media and check out their podcasts:
